Love Boat Star Bernie Kopell & More Headed Off-Broadway in Viagara Falls

Bernie Kopell, who played the flirtatious Doc in The Love Boat, will star in the forthcoming off-Broadway production of Lou Cutell and Joao Machado’s Viagara Falls. Co-starring Broadway vet Cutell (How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, Little Me) and comedienne Teresa Ganzel, the play will begin previews at the Little Shubert Theatre on July 5 and open on July 21, directed by Don Crichton.

Viagara Falls centers on widowers, war buddies and lifelong pals Charley (Cutell) and Moe (Kopell). For his 77th birthday, Charley decides that he and Moe need one more crack at sowing some wild oats. Moe is wary, but with the help of one loopy lady of the evening and some black market blue pills, Charley and Moe are in for the birthday party of their lives.

"Who says you can't write a sex farce for people of all ages?" said playwright/star Cutell, whose credits include playing proctologist Dr. Cooperman in the Seinfeld episode known as “The Assman.” “We wanted to write a play that would make audiences laugh and warm their hearts too.”

Viagara Falls features costume designs by Bob Mackie, scenic design by Sydney Litwack, lighting design by Joshua Scherr and sound design by Peter Fitzgerald.
